"It seems to make me return to the place poignantly dear to my heart where my grandfather's house used to be, in which I was born 40 years ago, right on the dinner table. Each time I try to enter it, something prevents me from doing that. I see this dream again and again, and when I see those walls made of logs in the dark entrance, even in my dream I become aware that I'm only dreaming it. And the overwhelming joy is clouded by anticipation of awakening. At times something happens and I stop dreaming of the house and the pine trees of my childhood around it, and I get depressed, and I can't wait to see this dream in which I'll be a child again, and feel happy again. Because everything will still be ahead. Everything will still be possible."

Etherea is an international online community of young digital musicians, visual artists and writers, founded in December 2019 by concept musician and producer, Aspect. Our musicians primarily create all flavours of electronic music with a cinematic flair, though our stylistic influences range greatly from artist to artist. Many of us are also heavily influenced by folk, jazz, classical music, progressive metal, ambient music, and the deepest realms of experimentalism. But most of all, we are a tight-knit group of friends who have found a home in our corner of the internet’s vibrant culture, restless creativity, and philosophy of inclusion and kindness to all.
Over the past year, 26 of our community members have worked together to create our first ever community-wide concept album, “As The Universe, So The Soul”. Our community members first wrote a story, revolving around an all-powerful, yet lonely spirit who contains an entire world in their heart, to serve as the basis for the album’s music. Each track on this project had to be a collaboration between two or more artists, and as a result, we were able to push each other into sonic territory we’d never explored before. Our community’s visual artists then collaborated with each other to create concept art for the album, based on the music and writing, which then became the cover art. Storytelling and a DIY attitude has always been a large part of our community’s art, and as such, this album is designed to reflect our identities as creators.
100% of the proceeds from this album will be going directly to OutRight Action International’s LGBTQ+ Ukraine Emergency Fund, which seeks to provide relief to LGBTQ+ Ukrainians who may be discriminated against in humanitarian efforts. Given that a large portion of our community is LGBTQ+, and many of us wish to do what we can to help those in the midst of Ukraine’s current humanitarian crisis, this cause is close to our hearts.
Many of us, as storytellers, create music to tell our own stories - some of which may be stories that don’t always get the spotlight in today’s music industry. We’re extremely excited that our community can take a first step in telling our stories to the world.
